YOUR SMILE OUR SPECIALTY

A smile makeover is comprehensive cosmetic dental treatment designed to restore and beautify your smile. It addresses issues like crooked, uneven, discolored, chipped, fractured or missing teeth. Gaps between teeth can also be closed. This can be accomplished with crowns, bridges, porcelain veneers, dental implants or even dentures. By identifying your specific concerns, we can create a customized treatment plan to enhance your smile.

WHAT DOES A SMILE MAKEOVER CORRECT?

There are a lot of considerations in designing a smile. It is an opportunity to re-create or rejuvenate your smile. Prosthodontists have specialized training in diagnosing and treatment planning the requirements for creating your smile.

A new smile should look natural and this is accomplished by having the appropriate length, shape, color, translucency and position of the teeth in harmony with the lips and face. As cosmetic dental specialists every detail is analyzed and no detail is too small.

Our Treatment Process

Diagnostics
1
Consultation
Your experience begins with a dental examination and radiographs. This initial appointment is an opportunity to discuss your concerns, answer your questions and begin to formulate a vision for your smile rejuvenation. A fee proposal for the treatment will also be presented.
Tooth check
2
Diagnostic Records
At this appointment, impressions and photographs of your teeth will be obtained. These records will be used to design and create your smile. Depending on the complexity of your situation, a digital preview of the smile design can be presented or a physical mock-up can be completed to help visualize the changes. This is also another opportunity to discuss and answer your questions. For more complex treatment a written report will be provided outlining the different options, rationale for the recommendations, timeline as well as sequencing of treatment.
Medical report
3
Execution
Sometimes supplemental procedures will be required to create a good foundation for your new smile. This could involve gum lifting or grafting, orthodontic treatment, root canal treatment, extractions and dental implant surgery. Afterwards, your teeth will be prepared as necessary for crowns, porcelain veneers or bridges and interim restorations will be placed on teeth and dental implants. This will begin to show you the potential of the esthetic outcome. At this point you can “test drive” your new smile and start to confirm that our vision and expectations are being met.
Tooth check
4
Design Review
At this appointment we will review the length, shape and overall esthetic appearance of the interim restorations and make modifications as needed. A duplicate of these interim restorations will then be made to use as a guide for making the final restorations.
Smile
5
Final Placement
The restorations, whether they are crowns, porcelain veneers, dental implant crowns and/or dental implant bridges will first be tried in your mouth and fitted. After your approval is obtained the restorations will be permanently inserted.

Frequently asked questions

What are some common smile makeover treatments?

Every smile makeover is unique depending on your concerns, expectations and tooth display when smiling. Often times treatment could involve the upper four, six or ten front teeth but could be as complex as treating the entire dentition. Our goal is to be as minimally invasive as possible by preserving tooth structure and treating as few teeth as possible, depending on your needs. Porcelain veneers are a very common procedure in our smile makeovers. It is possible that a combination of crowns, veneers, bridges and dental implants could be recommended. The key to a properly executed smile makeover is to have a customized treatment plan.

How long does a smile makeover take?

If only porcelain veneers, crowns or bridge are involved then treatment could be completed in three to four weeks.  If supplemental procedures, especially those involving surgery are required, then the timeline could be prolonged by three to twelve months or more.

Do I need to see other dental specialists?

Prosthodontists are experts in rebuilding damaged with porcelain veneers or crowns and replacing missing teeth with bridges, dental implants or dentures. Other treatments such as surgery, orthodontics and root canal treatment require a different skillset. If you require these additional procedures, then we would work with experts in those fields to provide you with the optimal result.

What kind of maintenance is required?

All prosthodontic treatment has a limited lifespan. In order to prolong the life of your investment then meticulous home care and professional dental cleanings and recare appointments are recommended. Destructive habits such as teeth grinding or clenching need to be controlled and avoided.
