Purpose Of Crowns
Crowns (caps) are coverings that encase the entire tooth surface restoring it to its original shape and size. They protect and strengthen teeth that cannot be restored with fillings or other types of restorations. Crowns are indicated for the following.
COMPROMISED TEETH
To cover and support a tooth that has a large filling when there is no longer much healthy tooth structure.
WEAKENED TEETH
To protect a tooth that is weakened (for instance, due to decay) from the danger of breakage.
BROKEN TEETH
To restore a tooth that is broken or severely worn down.
MISSHAPEN TEETH
To cover a tooth that is misshapen or severely discolored.
