INFECTION PREVENTION & CONTROL

Our treatment rooms are isolated and equipped with an extra-oral suction system to capture aerosol spray from dental procedures. Air purifiers are also present in the rooms to filter and sterilize the air. These purifiers capture bio-aerosols, odors, gases, disinfectants, particulates, viruses and bacteria creating air quality similar to a surgical operating room. All instruments are reprocessed through a multi-step procedure involving physical inspection and removal of debris, cleaning and disinfection in a medical grade washer and finally by sterilization. Each sterilization load is monitored for time, temperature and pressure and all details are logged. Physical, chemical and biological monitoring is done to verify the effectiveness of the sterilization process. Our infection prevention and control measures exceed the recommendations made by the Alberta Dental Association.
