Dr. Tyler Verhaeghe was born and raised in Edmonton. He completed his dentistry degree in 2007 followed by a one-year dental residency program at the University of Alberta. After graduation he went into part-time private practice and began teaching at the School of Dentistry at the University of Alberta where he also received a Master in Education. During this time, he grew very interested in removable complete and partial dentures and became the protege of Dr. Han-Kuang (Hank) Tan, a highly renowned Removable Prosthodontist. He later moved to Vancouver where he completed his specialty training in prosthodontics at the University of British Columbia. He received numerous awards as the top resident in his cohort and as an educator and graduated with a Master in Craniofacial Science and a Diploma in Prosthodontics.

He is passionate about integrating technology with patient care and is the lead author of an electronic interactive multitouch textbook on complete denture prosthodontics. He is currently working on the third edition which includes implant overdentures and digital dentures. Dr. Verhaeghe is a tenured associate professor at the University of Alberta’s Mike Petryk School of Dentistry where he currently serves as Lead for Removable Prosthodontics and Director, Digital Dentistry.

Dr. Verhaeghe is also a subject matter expert and consultant for Prosthodontics for both the National Dental Examining Board of Canada as well as the Royal College of Dentists of Canada.

He and his wife are big fans of the Edmonton Oilers and even bigger fans of watching their two boys play hockey.
